Goals for the New Year
By Karen in Business Management , in GeneralWith the New Year in full swing, now is the time to set your goals for 2011!
After you have completed your Year in Review, you can begin setting year goals based on your review results.
Utilizing the suggested questions from the last week's post, here is an example of goals to set for the new year:
1. What is my goal number of listings for 2011? What actions will I take to ensure I can reach this number?
2. What is my goal number of buyers for 2011? What actions will I take to ensure I can reach this number?
3. What changes will I make from last year to ensure I do not lose any listings?
4. What changes will I make from last year to ensure I do not lose any buyers?
5. What is my goal number of new leads for 2011? What actions will I take to ensure I can reach this number?
6. What changes will I make form last year to ensure I do not lose any leads this year?
7. What marketing materials will I send during 2011?
8. What is my ultimate goal for 2011?
9. What is my goal take-home income for 2011?
10. Based on my rating of the year 2010 on a scale of 1-10, how will I improve my rating by at least 2 points?
Don’t be afraid to take a deep look at yourself during this process, for example:
1. In what areas of the real estate industry do I lack skills and expertise, and what can I do to improve these weaknesses?
2. How can I make improvements to my daily schedule to make better use of my time and focus?
3. Are there any areas of my business that I would like to expand or grow, and if so, how can I begin making this change?
Remember, these are only suggestions. You can customize these questions to fit your business and situation.
And, just as you did with the Year in Review, write down your questions and answers and save them in a place where you can easily find them. Then, set reminders to review your goals periodically throughout the year. At a minimum, I would recommend reviewing your goals every 3 months. But, if this is your first time setting a year plan, or if you have struggled with maintaining goals in the past, I suggest reviewing your goals at the end of each month to hold yourself accountable.
Good luck - and Happy New Year!
